About me

I’m a doctoral researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, based in the LESA research center. My work focuses on making buildings smarter by using sensors and machine learning to understand where people are in a room, what they are doing, and what kind of lighting they might need.

Before that, I studied Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Jadavpur University in Kolkata, where I began working on sensor design, robotics, and embedded systems.

I like building things end-to-end, from hardware design and prototypes to data pipelines, processing, and user-facing tools. I also care a lot about technical documentation and process standardization. I’m the kind of person who enjoys organizing files and designing systems to run my life.

Outside the lab, I like watching films, taking photos, experimenting with design tools, and trying new AI tools and models to see what works, what doesn’t, and how I can share what I learn with friends.

How I work these days

I’ve always been quick to try new AI tools. Over the last year, and especially the last five or six months, they’ve changed how I work quite a bit. I use agents for everything from developing experiments to getting several pieces of a project moving at once.

VS Code used to be my main workspace. Now, much more of the work happens through conversation. I explain what I want to do, work through ideas with an agent, and let it handle much of the implementation and routine project work. With tools such as Codex and multiple agents working in parallel, it feels much easier to try something and see where it goes.

That’s made the work more playful and exploratory. I want to write about the things I’m trying, what works, and what I learn along the way.
